Aviation Salary Research and Contractor Pay

Conceptual cartoon illustration of private compensation reports organised into grouped aviation salary research.

Salary information is more useful when the year, currency, role and working arrangement match. This research collects structured reports and publishes only grouped results after moderation.

No publishable salary cohorts yet.

Results appear only after at least five distinct accounts contribute comparable full-year reports and those reports pass moderation. We do not seed this research with invented salaries.

How contributions work

  1. Create a username-and-password account when registration opens. No name or email is requested.
  2. Report your own actual compensation for a calendar year: country of operation or worldwide, department, role, contractor or employee status, experience band, currency and completed paid months.
  3. Submit the report to the private moderation queue. You cannot publish it yourself.
  4. An administrator reviews plausibility and consistency, then approves or rejects it.
  5. Only approved, full-year reports can enter a public cohort. Updating a report sends it through moderation again.
Salary research flow: private self-report, moderation, a matching cohort of at least five distinct accounts, then a rounded public median and sample-size band. Distinct accounts do not prove distinct people or guarantee anonymity.
Distinct accounts are not verified people. Moderation does not authenticate payroll; grouping reduces but cannot eliminate identification risk. Original Fly HR graphic. View full-size graphic (opens in a new tab)

What annual compensation means

Report actual gross compensation received before personal tax, including fixed and variable pay. Exclude VAT, expense reimbursements and per diems. Do not enter a future offer or multiply a short contract into an imaginary full year. Partial-year submissions remain excluded from annual comparisons.

Public grouping and privacy

A cohort has the same calendar year, country, department, role, working arrangement and currency. It needs at least five distinct accounts. We show a rounded median and a sample-size band (5–9, 10–19 or 20+). We do not publish usernames, individual amounts, employer names, personal documents, minimums or maximums.

These precautions reduce identification risk but cannot guarantee anonymity. One person could create multiple accounts: distinct accounts do not prove distinct people. Moderation does not authenticate payroll. No salary data is invented to fill empty results.

Limits of the research

Contributors select themselves, and the sample may be small or unrepresentative. Currency groups are never combined or converted. Role, working hours, benefits, tax and roster differences can remain within a cohort. Do not treat a displayed median as a promised salary or a complete market benchmark.

Withdrawal, changes and retention

One account may hold one report per calendar year. A replacement withdraws the previous version from qualifying results until reviewed. You can delete a report or your account from the member page. Reports last modified more than three years ago are removed through a daily scheduled cleanup, which depends on the site’s scheduler running. Previously copied public summaries may remain outside our control.
